The International Relations Office (IRO) of Mogadishu University (MU) was established in 2013 with the primary aim of fostering the internationalization of the university. The IRO serves as a vital communication gateway between MU and the global community. It takes the lead in planning, organizing, and executing international cooperation activities, while providing crucial support to all departments in developing diverse and extensive forms of international collaboration, and expanding the university’s international influence. Acting as a window to the outside world, the IRO plays a pivotal role in establishing connections and fostering relationships with international institutions, universities, and other organizations. It facilitates the exchange of knowledge, resources, and expertise through various channels such as academic partnerships, strategic projects, research collaborations, joint programs, and student and staff mobility.
The IRO operates through two key units: the Grants Unit and the International Partnerships Unit. Each unit plays a vital role in facilitating different aspects of international relations and cooperation.
In line with Mogadishu university’s Strategy of becoming a world-class university, the International Relations Office aims to enhance the university’s global standing and reputation by fostering productive collaborations with regional and international institutions.
The mission of the International Relations Office is to effectively drive the internationalization efforts of the university in alignment with its overarching mission and strategic goals. This is achieved through proactive leadership in establishing collaborations between Mogadishu University (MU) and international institutions, including universities, agencies, foundations, and other relevant international bodies that share similar objectives.
